It’s the year 2013 and video has made a huge impact on the web. Is your business utilizing this purely awesome, free, SEO-friendly, informative, and did I mention FREE service to improve your business? Here at Designzillas, we have our own Youtube channel and we use it to share information visually with our clients and visitors. (Remember Zillathon and our top-notch Harlem Shake video?) While we clearly write pretty awesome and informative blog posts as well, we understand that sometimes it’s just nice to sit back, relax and watch something instead of having to utilize the extra brain power to read and skim through content.

If your business is not taking advantage of this resource, you should look into it quickly! There are plenty of benefits that come with signing up for a Youtube or Vimeo account. Here are just a few that I came up with:

Have you heard the news? Google owns Youtube now. Google is also the mack daddy of search engines and the one you are probably bending over backward to try and get the attention of. With the new Google Penguin 2.0 updates, content is more important than ever — and video content really gets you noticed. Google’s search engine algorithm weighs content (especially diversified content) very heavily, and the more video you integrate into your internet marketing strategy, the better. Start recording and sharing some videos relevant to your industry! You will see your website start to rise to the top of the ranks.

Not only is video great for SEO purposes, creating and uploading video also gives your business a face. It’s well known that people feel more comfortable doing business with sentient human beings rather than words on a screen, so video is a great way to show your clients that you are a real person who cares about their goals and needs! Along with this, video is a great way to show your clients and potential customers that you are the expert at whatever it is that you do. Video provides a way for your brand to come to life right before your clients’ eyes. They are able to actually see your business in action. Solidify your repertoire even before your clients walk into your physical locale.

As stated before, the new Google Penguin 2.0 update calls for an increase in relevant and quality content. If Google is the mack daddy of search engines, good content, including interesting and relevant videos is the king of good SEO. But take caution — don’t just upload videos that have nothing to do with your industry or your business. Share videos with information on new updates or exciting news in your field of work. Record some how-to videos; everybody LOVES free information.

Video is also a great way to get your clients to pay attention. As the internet becomes more and more of a juggernaut of information, people become less and less inclined to actually read. What’s great about video is they don’t have to, and they’re probably more likely to remember what they saw!

So, if you read the above statements (which I know, it’s hard for us to read nowadays, what with out constantly moving, busy lives) you have figured out that video is a great way to improve your business and if you haven’t included it into your Mary Poppins-esque bag of internet marketing tricks, you definitely should think about it. Did I mention it’s totally free? So get to it! Share some videos! Lights, camera, action!
