MD Anderson Cancer Center of Orlando opened its $1.3 million, 9,800-square-foot Gynecologic Cancer Center facility Sept. 17.
The clinic, located at 105 W. Miller St., Orlando, has eight exam rooms and 10 chemotherapy rooms, as well as 20 employees, including four doctors, four nurses and four medical assistants.
“By myself, I was able to see around 80 patients a week, but now that I have the help of other doctors and more space, we are able to see over 100,” said Dr.Veronica Schimp, chief of Gynecologic Oncology.
Schimp said plans for the next two to three years include a more multi-disciplinary approach, including acupuncture and massage therapy, for example, along with hiring doctors trained in robotics and expanding research.
The clinic’s old home at the fourth floor of the Orlando Regional Medical Center is now a breast cancer clinic.
